- From profit to three straight losses. SelectQuote earned $0.3 billion in fiscal 2019–2021. Then it lost money every year from fiscal 2022 to 2024: $0.4 billion in all. Fiscal 2025 was its first profit in four years: $0 billion.
- It outgrew its own economy many times over. Revenue rose from $0.2 billion in fiscal 2018 to $1.6 billion in fiscal 2026: 6.9 times as much. The US economy, counted the same way in money terms, grew about 45%. Whatever drove it, the economy around it does not account for growth of that size.
- It wasn't the cycle. The losses began in fiscal 2022 (mostly calendar 2022), a year the US economy grew 2.4%. When a company falls while its economy grows, look inside the company first.
- A steady bench. SelectQuote filed 5 leadership changes since 2016, fewer than 75% of large financial companies (the median is 14).
