  1. From profit to four straight losses. Kinetik lost money every year from 2017 to 2020: $2.5 billion in all. 2021 was its first profit in five years: $0 billion.
  2. It outgrew its own economy many times over. Revenue rose from $0 billion in 2017 to $1.8 billion in 2025: 116.5 times as much. The US economy, counted the same way in money terms, grew about 53%. Whatever drove it, the economy around it does not account for growth of that size.
  3. It wasn't the cycle. The losses began in 2017, a year the US economy grew 2.5%. When a company falls while its economy grows, look inside the company first.
  4. Leaders came and went. Kinetik filed 25 leadership changes since 2016, more than 76% of large transportation and utility companies (the median is 12). The day after each, its shares fell a median 0.6 points against its sector.
