- From profit to three straight losses. Cornerstone Building Brands earned $0.7 billion in 2021–2021. Then it lost money every year from 2023 to 2025: $2 billion in all.
- It outgrew its own economy many times over. Revenue rose from $1.7 billion in fiscal 2016 to $5.4 billion in 2025: 3.2 times as much. The US economy, counted the same way in money terms, grew about 60%. Whatever drove it, the economy around it does not account for growth of that size.
- It wasn't the cycle. The losses began in 2023, a year the US economy grew 2.9% and factories added jobs. When a company falls while its economy grows, look inside the company first.

- Leaders came and went. Cornerstone Building Brands filed 42 leadership changes since 2016, more than 96% of large manufacturers (the median is 19).
