The short answer

Pick by where you want to read the transcripts.

If your team already searches filings and broker research in one platform, buy the library inside it: AlphaSense now holds the former Tegus and Stream libraries. If you also buy custom calls, an expert network's own library, such as Third Bridge, Guidepoint or GLG, puts both under one contract and one compliance process. If you screen private companies for deals, Dialectica's Origin attaches transcripts to company profiles. If you are a long-term equity investor who wants fewer, longer interviews on selected companies, look at In Practise.

Before signing, search the library for 10 companies you care about. The count and date of transcripts on your names matters more than the total library size.

Why expert call transcript libraries matter

A transcript library sells calls someone else already ran. A former sales director explains how a competitor discounts. A distributor describes which products are gaining shelf space. A customer explains why it switched suppliers.

For a strategy or investment team, that is a fast way to learn an unfamiliar market before a decision: whether to pursue an acquisition, enter a segment, or respond to a competitor. A transcript is available as soon as you search. A custom call must be recruited, scheduled and paid for one at a time.

The limit is that you cannot choose the questions. Libraries cover the companies and topics many clients ask about. A niche private company or a specific pricing question may need a custom call.

Who buys it

Buyers include hedge funds, asset managers, private equity firms and consultancies running due diligence. Corporate strategy, corporate development and competitive intelligence teams also buy, often through a research platform they already license. Triggers include a new sector or company to cover, a due diligence project, earnings season, and a decision to cut the number of custom expert calls.

Before you buy: what teams do without one

Without a library, teams book custom calls through an expert network, call their own contacts, or rely on broker research and earnings call transcripts for industry views.

Custom calls let you ask your own questions but cost more per insight and take days to arrange. Broker research and earnings calls give the company's or the analyst's view, not a customer's or competitor's. A library pays when the team covers many companies that other investors also follow, so transcripts already exist, or when it wants to read before deciding which custom calls are worth paying for.

What good looks like

CapabilityWhat good looks likeWhy it matters
Coverage of your companiesRecent transcripts on most of your named companies and their competitors, customers and suppliers.Total library size says little about whether your names are covered.
Who leads the interviewThe interviewer's role is shown on each transcript: the vendor's analyst, a buy-side investor or the client who ran the call. The interviewer's questions shape what the expert reveals.
Expert identificationEach transcript states the expert's former role and employer. The role and employer tell you what the expert could have seen firsthand.
Compliance reviewA written process for screening transcripts for material non-public and confidential information before publication.Reading a transcript carries compliance risk too.
Cited AI searchAnswers synthesized across transcripts, with every point linked to the passage it came from.Hundreds of transcripts on one company cannot be read one by one.
Delivery into your toolsAccess through your research platform, terminal, data feed or an MCP connection to your AI assistant.Transcripts are used more when they sit next to filings and models.
Path to a custom callA way to book a call with the same or a similar expert from inside the library.Reading usually raises the follow-up question that only a live call answers.

How expert call transcript libraries are built, and who sells each kind

Vendors in this category can take a labeled Spotlight slot on this guide. How Spotlight works

Libraries inside research platforms

Transcripts searched in the same AI platform as filings, broker research and your internal documents, with expert calls sold as an add-on. AlphaSense works this way.

Fits: Teams that want one search across transcripts and every other research source.

  • AlphaSenseInvestment and strategy teams that want Tegus expert transcripts searched next to filings and broker research.

Expert-network libraries

An expert network's own analysts or partner investors interview experts and publish the transcripts, next to its custom call service. Third Bridge, Guidepoint and GLG work this way.

Fits: Teams that also buy custom calls and want one contract and compliance process.

  • Third BridgeInvestors who want interview-based profiles of over 75,000 public and private companies plus custom calls.
  • GuidepointResearch teams that want 130,000+ transcripts with cited AI answers and custom calls from one supplier.
  • GLGClients who want named-expert transcripts in myGLG, Bloomberg, FactSet or their own data environment.

Deal-screening platforms with transcripts

Private-company profiles and deal alerts with expert transcripts attached, built for screening targets. Dialectica's Origin works this way.

Fits: Private equity teams screening many private companies before diligence.

  • DialecticaPrivate equity teams that want expert transcripts attached to private-company profiles and deal alerts.

Curated investor interview libraries

A smaller library of executive interviews on selected companies, led by experienced investors. In Practise works this way.

Fits: Long-term equity investors who prefer depth on fewer companies.

  • In PractiseLong-term, fundamental equity investors focused on US and European quality companies.

How to choose

Depth on your names

Count recent transcripts on 10 companies you follow, plus their customers and competitors. Library totals are not comparable across vendors.

Authored or contributed content

Some libraries are built mainly from interviews the vendor's analysts plan and run. Others add calls that clients ran and agreed to publish. Ask for the share of each.

Public or private company focus

Libraries built for hedge funds cover heavily traded public companies. Private equity buyers need private-company and supplier coverage. Check the mix.

Where you read it

A standalone portal, inside a research platform, through Bloomberg or FactSet, as a data feed, or in an AI assistant through MCP.

Link to custom calls

Whether you can book a follow-up call from the library, and whether your own calls are added to it.

How pricing works

Vendors in this guide do not publish prices. Libraries are sold as annual subscriptions, usually per seat or as part of a wider platform license.

The main variable is what is bundled. A research platform may include transcripts in a higher tier, with custom expert calls as an add-on. An expert network may sell library access alongside prepaid call credits. Some vendors charge less for a custom call if you let them publish its transcript.

Before comparing quotes, decide whether you are buying transcripts alone, transcripts plus a research platform, or transcripts plus custom calls.

Frequently asked questions

What is an expert call transcript library?

A searchable collection of written transcripts of interviews with industry experts, such as former executives, customers, competitors and suppliers. Subscribers read calls that the vendor or other clients already ran instead of arranging their own. Libraries are sold by research platforms, expert networks and specialist publishers, mostly to investors, consultancies and strategy teams.

What happened to Tegus and Stream?

Both are now part of AlphaSense. AlphaSense bought Stream in 2021 and completed its $930 million acquisition of Tegus in July 2024. The Tegus website now says Tegus expert transcripts, expert calls and financial models are part of AlphaSense, which lists more than 300,000 Tegus expert transcripts.

Transcript library vs expert network: which do we need?

A library is faster and cheaper per insight, but you cannot choose the questions or the expert. An expert network arranges calls on your own questions. Many vendors sell both. Read the library first to learn a market, then pay for custom calls on the questions it cannot answer.

What are the alternatives to AlphaSense for expert transcripts?

Expert networks with their own libraries include Third Bridge, Guidepoint and GLG; each also sells custom calls. Dialectica's Origin attaches transcripts to private-company profiles for deal screening. In Practise publishes investor-led executive interviews on selected US and European companies.

How much does an expert transcript library cost?

None of the vendors in this guide publishes prices as of October 2026. Libraries are sold as annual subscriptions, per seat or as part of a wider research platform or expert network contract. Ask what is bundled: transcripts alone, a research platform, or call credits. Then compare quotes on the same seats and scope.
